The Krasňany depot in Rača is undergoing extensive modernization, which will not only provide better technical facilities and improved comfort for employees, but will also prepare Bratislava for the arrival of new, higher‑capacity trams. The depot in Krasňany will thus become a facility that meets strict criteria of modern technologies, enhanced safety, and ecological sustainability.
The Krasňany depot was originally built in the early 1970s to serve the needs of the city’s transport company. Until recently, it housed mainly older trams, while also providing facilities for 18 electric buses operated by Dopravný podnik Bratislava. In more than 50 years of operation, the site had not undergone major modernization, which made it impossible to carry out full maintenance of low‑floor trams.
